What ideas have you been generating to contribute to the taiko community, your taiko group, or yourself as a taiko player? How long have you been playing and who do you consider to be your peers or in your taiko generation? What would you like to say to the taiko players that pioneered the art form in North America, to new taiko players picking up bachi for the first time, or to your taiko peers?
For Taikothon 2016, TCA would like to honor the past while looking towards the future. With 2018 marking the 50th Anniversary of taiko in North America, we want to pay honor to and acknowledge all taiko players from each generation, old and new. We also want to survey the community and see what creative ideas and concepts individuals or groups are generating. We hope that you will contribute to this year’s Taikothon by submitting a performance or short segment in the spirit of Generation Taiko!
Please submit a short clip (no more than 5 minutes) to share what you are doing with taiko or a shout-out to another generation of taiko players! Below are some ideas, but we are open to airing anything you would like to share with the taiko community.
- An explanation of a current or work in progress piece
- Narrative about what you are doing with taiko
- Practice drill or exercise
- A shout-out or message to someone/another taiko generation
You may also contribute by sending in a group performance video to air during the show. It can be a recent performance, something informal at practice, or even a work in progress. Please submit a video, maximum 10 minutes length, you would like to share with the Taiko Community!
Please submit your segments or performance by Friday, October 14th. We look forward to hearing from you!
