Last weekend, February 11th and 12th, the TCA Board of Directors from across North America gathered at an AirBnB in Los Angeles, CA for the annual TCA board retreat.
The weekend was full of meaningful presentations and conversations about TCA’s present state of affairs and plans to build a strong infrastructure for the organization. Feedback from board members, TCA volunteers, and key stakeholders in the community were paired with TCA Launch meeting feedback, membership and census data to bring the taiko community into every conversation. Throughout the retreat, the board discussed initiatives as part of a Strategic Framework to align and move the organization forward.

Board Treasurer Wisa Uemura facilitates a lively discussion about the 2017 TCA budget at the 2017 Board of Directors retreat.

TCA’s Core Values were top of mind throughout the weekend.

Newest board recruits Toni Yagami and Tamiko Ooka led the board in team building taiko exercises at the LA Taiko Institute (Asano Taiko U.S.)
Board members meet on a regular, monthly basis, but seldom see each other in person. This was a valuable opportunity to bond, thought share, and and make decisions for the future of TCA, and the board is ready to get to work!
