Waitlisting for classes on Sched

Frequently Asked Questions

TCA is thrilled to see the buzz, energy, and questions that have arisen about the conference. Here is some helpful information that may help clarify a few things before you arrive.

Why can’t I log into Sched yet?

While the workshop schedule is published for the public to view, we are still queuing entrance into Sched based on your order in registration. You will receive an email invitation to join Sched/NATC-R’s event page, at which point be able to begin selecting your personalized schedule.

When can I select my workshops?

Please review the answer to “Why can’t I log into Sched yet?”

Why can’t I submit my selections in Sched?

When you check that you are attending a class, you are enrolled that moment, so there is not a second step to submit the schedule. When you select a class, the alternative choices are greyed out, showing you that you are in one class and can’t join the others in that block. To change your selection, unselect yourself from the first class and then join the second. If you are unsure if you are registered for a class or not, you can check “My Schedule” under your user profile.

Can I change my mind after I pick my workshops?

Yes, our scheduler will let you rearrange your schedule (assuming there are still available spots in the desired workshop you are switching to). The Sched system will reveal an error message if you try to double book yourself or if capacity has been reached for any element of the conference. TCA will freeze (lock in) all workshop selections on May 31, 2024 to give us ample time to prepare equipment needs for each workshop.

What else can Sched do?

Once you set up your profile in Sched, you can manage/view your schedule, get notifications sent by TCA to the conference attendees, and chat with participants, instructors, and vendors online. It is meant to be a tool to enhance your conference experience. But if you prefer to experience the conference “unplugged,” the only required thing to do in Sched is select your workshop schedule.

How do I decide which workshops are right for me?

Each workshop description will include the intended learning outcomes and details about the workshop format to help you find one that is right for you. Each workshop description has a section for prerequisites, which lists any skills that a participant should have prior to participation in that block (e.g. the ability to sound the first two octaves on shinobue). It also has a section for any equipment that you should bring. Even if not specified, please make sure to have loose fitting or athletic clothing that allows comfortable movement.

Has the conference set up any deals with local hotels?

Actually yes! The TCA has reserved a limited block of rooms at the Sheraton Grand Seattle, immediately next door to the Seattle Convention Center. Individuals can book rooms themselves through a link provided by the hotel. That link will be posted here and elsewhere on our website as soon as it is made available to us.

Can I share rooms with someone?

Bunking with taiko buddies is a time honored tradition in our community. While TCA cannot legally help to coordinate or make these arrangements, we do want to encourage others to share in this way. We have created a private event page for NATC-R where you can reach out to other travelers or those based in Seattle to see if there is roomshare, rideshare, or others things you'd like to coordinate. Here is the link to the event page : https://www.facebook.com/groups/770286851686392 .  A TCA Staff Admin will vet to make sure only registrants are invited to the event page. We also kindly ask that you read and honor the event page expectations to be respectful to one another.
